So I finally did it… I am no longer using Canon gear. I decided to buy a used D3, a 50mm 1.4 G, and one SB-900 from the “proceeds” of my traded in Canon gear. I still have a 5D body and the 24-70 2.8 and will be looking for a buyer. I have to say, so far, so good! I used this gear at a portrait shoot tonight as well and am very happy. The auto white balance was nice but, I used a custom WB. The way you do it on the D3 is cool… you setup the camera to use a photo you take, take a shot of a neutral scene and sha-bam, away you go :) The skin tones were nice and the new body was easy to use. I will post more late but I need to get to sleep for my trip to Utah tomorrow.

FWIW – this photo is STRAIGHT out of the camera, jpg. Me likey the sharpey! Here is an extreme close-up – for your viewing pleasure.

While I worked the 2010 Pan Kids Jiu Jitsu Championships, Jordan and Grace got to do some bonding. After walking around, enjoying some acai, and even some offroading in the stroller, they found their way to the backetball hoop… what I saw is here.

We had Monday off from work and school so the family went to a local skate shop that has a few ramps and stuff. Jordan likes to hang out there, the guys are pretty cool and they crank the music !

Its official ! Ian is now a part of the Davis family. The process has taken a long time and I am happy for Jason and Lesily. They have been good friends for a LOOOONG time and I could not be happier for them. Here is my video blog (trying to get it to upload…) and some photos.

I got to spend a little time with the pesh ladies today over lunch and they were at Pretend City in Irvine, CA. This place ROCKED !!!! I wish we had a tiny little REAL town to play in when I was little. There were cars, a gas station, fire station, a performance stage (complete with lights and music), a house (furnished) a beach… a BEACH !!!, and so much more… I look forward to taking her back sometime ! Thank you Aunt Shelby for coming to see Gracie.
