Defending the Brabo Choke

News / Updates on November 11th, 2009 No Comments

This morning I was looking through the blogs that I watch and after someone posted a youtube video of come cross-guard stuff, I ran across this. I will work on this. I tend to get to half guard and defend this choke by not allowing their whizzer. I should have no problem testing this reversal out for real… I w ill just let the whizzer get set and go.

Today Jordan joined me in Long Beach for the No Gi Worlds. He grabbed teh second 5D and shot away. He has some neat shots and I could tell his was experimenting, which is TOTALLY cool. Check out his blog at www.jordanpoeschl.com . Here are some shots. I bought the lensbaby and played with it today. I like it, but it will take me some time to get total control of what I want. Let me know what you think.

Big Bear, here we come !

News / Updates on October 30th, 2009 No Comments

Heather, Grace and I have a nice weekend ahead of us. We are headed to Big Bear to camp. The trusty ‘ol travel trailer is packed and ready to go, and I am so looking forward to being up there. We are staying at Serrano campgrounds, we like the campground because we are surrounded by trees and only a short walk to Big Bear Lake. I plan to do some reading, photography and just hanging out with my little ladies. Expect to see some photos of Grace and her first s’mores :)

Tonight we tried some spaghetti for Grace and luckily she loves it! Heather was so happy to be able to prepare ONE meal for all of us. I will post some video later where she was chewing the turkey meatballs that Heather added to the mix.

We were so happy to have so many people join us for her birthday party. We setup accross the street from our home. We had a Princess Castle bounce house, cotton candy machine, slushies and snowcones for the kids, frozen margaritas for the adults, burgers and hot dogs, and of course cake. Thank you all for coming and sharing the great day.

I was so happy to finally see this magazine !  I was asked to cover Master Carlos for a Health and Fitness related article.  I spent a saturday with him enjoying an Acai Smoothy that he whipped up with bananas and some apple juice.  We went for a “leisurely” stroll in Laguna Beach, and a hotel with about a million stairs!  He made 8 trips up AND down and I staggered through 4 round trips.  We capped off the photography by shooting in a park hear both our homes.  We had his family join us and had some fun.  Here are some from those days.
